Breast Reduction
Breast reduction surgery is intended to reduce the size and lift up the breast. Women with very
large breasts are restricted for a number of pysical activities, they may cause embarassment and
even develop psycological problems like shyness and introversion. In addition, they often suffer
from breast, back and neck pain, shoulder grooves from bra straps, and skin rashes under the breasts
can occur especially in summer time. Before surgery the final breast size in proportion to the body
will be evaluated together with the surgeon. The operation lasts two to three hours. The patient is
usually discharged on 1-2 days. The incisions heal within 10 days. There is no sensory loss. There
will be minimal vertical scars, which also disappear by time. There might be limited changes in
lactating ducts. The patient may breastfeed after 3-6 months.
